Soups to Warm the Soul

Only the pure in heart can make a good soup.

– Ludwig van Beethoven

… in that case, only the pure in heart work at Zig’s Bakery and Cafe, because their soups are absolutely delicious! There truly is nothing like a nice warm soup to warm the soul. From chilly winter days to brisk spring nights, a good soup is comfort in every savory sip.

Zig’s Bakery makes over 30 different varieties of soup. They serve two hot soups daily and sell others in cold flavor-filled pints and quarts. Some of their most popular soups include vegetable beef, loaded baked potato, chicken noodle, chicken corn, kickn’ cowboy chili, chicken pot pie, Italian wedding, tomato pepper jack, tomato bisque, and ham and bean.

The first thing that pops into my mind when I read that list? “One of each, please!”

It is a good thing they serve two soups a day because choosing from all their amazing soups would not be an easy task. The creamy tomato bisque is packed with flavorful herbs and spices, the vegetable beef uses 8 different vegetables cooked to perfection, the kickn’ cowboy chili packs a powerful punch with its smokey taste, and the loaded baked potato is the perfect creamy comfort food.

Is your mouth watering yet?

What about now?

Someone once told me that their favorite food is soup because a nice hot soup forces you to eat slowly. To take the time to, not just eat, but to taste and enjoy each and every delectable spoonful. In our fast-paced lives, we rarely take the time to sit down and have a meal. My challenge for you is to take time out of your busy day to sit down with a big bowl of soup, eat slowly, enjoy the meal, and treat yourself to some much needed downtime.
