Local in Every Bite

— From the pages of Taysted issue #03

Scooter’s holds a lot of surprises, both inside the building and on their extensive menu. Dawn Quinn, owner and general manager, opened the restaurant in 1996 and is celebrating 20 years of business in April 2016. One unexpected feature of the building is the patio which was built just seven years ago. Warmed with a wood burning fireplace, the patio is open almost year-round. You can even book the patio for holiday parties, rehearsal dinners, showers and mixers.

The menu at Scooter’s is quite extensive. Tourists and locals alike absolutely love the local ingredients featured in several menu items. The Lancaster County Burger, for instance, is made with locally made tomato jam and cheese from a nearby farm.

Offering frequent specials is Scooter’s “specialty.” You will find three lunch specials a day as well as food and drink specials using locally sourced products currently being grown around the county, whatever the season. During summertime, the restaurant uses self-grown products from five large herb and vegetable boxes. Even the coffee they serve is roasted in Lancaster. Scooter’s is also known for their themed nights, such as Mexican Monday or Pasta Tuesday, their homemade soups, and made-to-order alfredo sauce.

Exciting things have taken place at Scooter’s! Make sure you stop in to see their brand new wallpaper, paint, and custom-made light fixtures!
