The first time I’d ever heard the term “porridge” was in Kindergarten. Porridge is prepared similarly to oatmeal, however porridge is made from any type of several grains and oatmeal is made from just oats. The flavor of Porridge Creme Brulee at Our House Cafe changes every week. Last weekend, Chef Jennifer Thompson featured cherry and hazelnut flavored, and this week (which is what I had) was banana and pecans. Chef Jennifer Thompson added some dried cherries to mine.
Let me tell you, it was such a delicious breakfast! The porridge, made from quinoa and steel cut oats, was topped with sweet grilled bananas, pecans, and a drizzle of honey. It can be made vegan if you request it without the honey.
