Mad Scientist: Boozy Beans

Normally I am a black coffee drinker, but as the autumn season crept in, even I have succumbed to the overwhelming desire of filling my gullet with the delicious taste of pumpkin spice everything. A trip to the local grocery store left me standing in front of the illuminated cooler staring at the largest variety of coffee creamers I have ever seen; I resisted the urge to stray from the seasonal flavor in favor of one of the many other tempting creamer concoctions—Thin Mint, Cinnamon Bun, Peppermint Mocha, and Butterfinger. With their candy logoed goodness, they all attempted to sway me from my end goal, but I stuck with Pumpkin Pie and checked out.

most_interesting_manI don’t drink coffee every day, but when I do, I sometimes add booze. An adorable little bottle of Kahlua conveniently sat beside my coffee maker the day I was asked to write this post so I thought… why not? With one swift pour it was added to my coffee. I topped it off with the Pumpkin Pie creamer and a sprinkle of cinnamon. With the endless amount of flavored creamers on the market, this simple beverage is so easily customizable. Just choose your flavor and alcohol, and BAM! You have a coffee drink that is sure to make Starbucks jealous.

Here are a few of my scientific suggestions:

• Rumplemintz and Thin Mint

• Whipped Cream Vodka and French Vanilla

• Cinnamon Schnapps and Cinnamon Bun

• Godiva Liqueur and Peppermint Mocha

• Fire Ball Whiskey and Southern Butter Pecan

• Frangelico and White Chocolate Raspberry

The combinations are endless. So, forgo boring black coffee this season and add a little pizzazz to your beans. Or, pass on the gift by creating a basket of love for a well deserving friend. Just add a bag of coffee, creamer, and a tiny liquor bottle of your choice.
